3d Racing is doing 2 day Ironman's?

Did you see the email they sent out about doing 2 day Ironman and half ironman races? Sort of a strange format. You do the swim and bike on one day and the run on another? Couldnt they secure the permits to just do the whole thing in one day?

Really? That's pretty ridiculous? Can you really call yourself an Ironman after doing that?

I thought it was two different Ironmans on two different days, not one spread across two days... I wonder how their registration numbers are going to go for that...

Then they do it for a half Ironman? That really doesn't make sense. They must really like the format...

This is from the 2nd newsletter, even stranger than I thought. I have no clue what they are thinking...

"Further utilizing our TRI-1 program you can do say the swim at Inter-Rockin and Run at Lansing, or any combination you like. Maybe you do the swim on Saturday and Run on Sunday at Inter-Rockin then get that 112 mile bike in at Lansing?"
