Endurance Power Training Workout

Postby tking5424 » Thu Dec 17, 2009 3:28 pm

Here's an endurance power based workout for you to try. It's set for 150 watts threshhold so you may need to modify it to suit your needs.
Thanks

Terry,

Thanks for sharing the workout. For people that don't know a lot about power based training, where would this workout fit in the season? I know a lot of us now have been taking it easy lately but are now looking to get back into shape for the 2010 tri season.

I don't think we have anything about power based training on the site right now but I know we have a lot of interest in it. A post on what power based training is or how to effectively use power based training would be great. Not that I'm trying to make more work for you... ;)

Hi Jared

An endurance workout is part of "base building" along with tempo and threshhold workouts. Typically, these are done early in a progressive training program. Once an athlete has laid down a base then it's appropriate to work on building power using VO2 max, anaerobic, neuromuscular, etc. workouts. Even though the weather right now is not conducive to outdoor training, an athlete can take the training indoors and get a leg up on the outdoor season starting several months from now. The book, Training and Racing with a Power Meter, by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan, is the BEST publication available on this topic.
Thanks
Terry

Awesome. Thanks for the information! I look forward to having you in more discussions on the forums.

It's a little slower right now but it will pick up more as the season begins (i.e. not 15 and snowing like it is right now in Detroit!)
