Swim MP3

Postby Ashley » Wed Nov 18, 2009 6:01 pm

I'm looking for something to make my pool workouts more fun ... anyone ever try a swim mp3 player?

Let me know what you find out, especially if you actually try it! I hate the swim mostly because it is so boring, and I have been thinking about getting a water mp3 player.

I have an H2Audio and iPod Shuffle on my Christmas list and I know I am getting it because I heard my wife talking her dad through the purchase on the phone :D I'll let you know how it goes. From what I have heard they work pertty good.

I too have not really liked the pool much lately but I've been trying to learn new strokes and perfecting flip turns and dolphin kicks (yea not going so well on that) and that's made it more enjoyable. I'm not getting in as many yards because I am terrible at the other strokes (and dolphin kicks, heck kicking in general) but its about the same amount of time in the water.

I had a swim mp3 player. Several problems. It was limited on its size, the ear buds fell out of my ears and it did not shuffle through songs like an iPod. I used silicone ear plugs to wedge the buds into my ears and used a swim cap to secure them further. When I had everything in place it was still difficult to hear the music over the sound of my breathing and splashing. Eventually, I just gave up.

I think the best logitical solution would be a water proof case for an existing iPod (they keep changing their design, though) with water proof ear buds. However, you still have to deal with the noise of the splash and breathing.

I did get the H2Oaudio Interval and the new iPod shuffle 3rd gen for Christmas :P Today was the first day I was able to try it out. It works great as long as you have the ear buds adjusted properly. It's a little rough in the beginning but after the first 30 minutes it gets pretty good.
