Hello,
I love message boards, I live in Ann Arbor, and I love doing Triathlons.
I can't believe that after doing my first race at the very end of the 2008 season, I'd spend all of last year budgeting and looking for races and training. I'm totally addicted.
My background is swimming, and I tend to do pretty well on the swim portions of the races. I am a fine cyclist, but I still get passed by a few folks. It's the run where I need most work, and where I hate working the most.
But the challenge is mastering that new discipline. It is fun. I love it.
Oh, the other stuff. I'm a father of two small children (makes training and racing just that much more difficult), I'm vegan (and straight edge, but that last part doesn't apply to tris much), and married. I'm going to grad school as well as working full time at UofMich at the school of Education. My wife is spearheading a new school, so that's taking up a lot of time, but she and I've been in the papers lately.
Lastly, I moonlight as a swim coach for Ann Arbor Masters in the afternoons, and have been coaching adults for over a decade now. That's what got me into triathlons. Friends would go race, and they'd bug me to try it out. And after two years of them buggin' me, I finally did. Now I've got the bug too.
