Started training for tri's three years ago as a way to maintain focus in the gym. I was tired of running on the treadmill and riding the stationary bike, and wanted to have an excuse to get back in the water. Mid life crisis I guess.
Started by getting back in the Macomb Township rec center pool every other Friday, and my first race was an indoor race at the City of Warren pool. Although I was happy with my swim, I died on the bike, and ended up walking for a few minutes during the 20 minute treadmill run, or slog, as I like to call it.
Well that was it. I hit Craigs list and bought a brand new Felt S32, and really started to focus on what I was weak in(running)
I have completed four indoor tri's, and three outdoor sprints, and hope to fit in four events this year, with my ultimate goal of competing an Olympic distance. I typically compete in a Litetime Fitness indoor event, and place very well in the swim, and pace myself on the bike to have enough gas for the run. No walking any more.
In between work, and coaching my daughters softball team four nights a week, I try to fit in workouts at least four times a week, with a decent bike ride at Stony Creek every Sunday once it get's above 50 degrees.
Great forum, happy training.
