Open Water Swimming - where to go?

I live in Livonia and would love to find a "clean" local lake in which to swim. I typically swim at Trout Lake at Island Lake Recreation Area or at Hammond Lake in W. Bloomfield, but neither are very close.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to OWS in and around Livonia/Northville?

Hi Ashley, did you ever find an answer to your question? I have the same question. I work in the livonia area and live in downtown Detroit so i'm looking for a good place to train in open water as well near the area. let me know if you found a good spot:)

Check out Detroit Iron Triathlon. Many of us are a part of the group and one of the members makes his private house on a lake available to members of the group. We usually swim every Friday out there.
