Bike Sport in Dearborn, MI

Postby Damon » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:04 pm

I have always had great experiences at Bike Sport. I mostly interact with Tom and Jon and they have gotten to know me over the past couple years. I have now purchased two triathlon bikes from them and couldn't be happier with the results. They generally don't have a lot of product in stock which is odd... but they can and will order anything you want. And if you're a member of Detroit Iron you've got a great sponsor in Bike Sport. Thanks Tom!

Training at Bike Sport? Yes! They have 3 computrainers and they are FREE. So you can bet I'll be spending many Saturday mornings in Dearborn sweating my ass off in the bike shop.

Anyway, I recommend this shop to anyone looking to get into triathlon or anyone that is firmly entrenched in it already.

I had a good experience with Bike Sport when I got my first bike. My reason for picking them in the first place is that I wanted the best fit possible on my bike and I wanted to purchase a bike that fit me. Reading the information on Bike Sport Michigan's website really made up my mind.

Here's what I'll say about Tom and other people's experience. Tom is a passionate guy when it comes to cycling and triathlons. You can tell that when you talk to him. Sometimes with passionate people you get a focus on the specifics and a somewhat less focus on other areas. For Tom I see that as being a focus on cycling, bike fit, and triathlons with less of a focus on other activities in the business. This leads to less than favorable reviews sometimes and wild speculation on Bikesport.

I'm not saying you're going to have a bad customer experience when you go there because that's not the way it is. You have to go there yourself and talk to the very knowledgeable people there to see if it works for you or not. What I think is that I will forgo some of the frills of other places to get a proper fit and the proper equipment. When I'm out on the race course or training, that's all that matters.

Anyone should definitely check out their website or just stop in to talk to the staff.

I have also had great experiences with Bike Sport. I got my first Tri bike and first set of race wheels from their store in Dearborn. I also rode a compu trainer for the first time at Bike Sport. It's a great place for those new and old to the sport of tri.
